Carbon Monoxide or Methane?

The other day I commented to my dear husband I wanted to purchase some carbon monoxide detectors for the house. I told him I thought we only needed two. One near the fireplace and the other outside near the gas heater. He thought for a moment and said that we should be careful not to place it too close to Zech's room! LOL! My son is truly all boy.

Tiny Little Miracles

He gives a guardian angel over each little one!

Aren't they precious? This is Hannah & Elizabeth my two new 2nd cousins. They are truly little miracles. At the beginning of their life (I mean in the womb) they had some pretty serious complications. The doctors continued to tell their parents that they probably wouldn't make it and if they did they would have some serious medical conditions when they were born. Somewhere though in the middle of her pregnancy the doctor did another ultrasound and said he couldn't explain it but they were looking at two perfectly healthy twin girls. However even though the ultrasound was optomistic the doctor wasn't. He continue to say she wouldn't make it to term, the girls will still have things wrong with them, etc. God is in His mighty grace pulled out a miracle for them. He formed them in their mothers womb and allowed them to be born perfectly healthy. They both weigh a little under 4 lbs a piece. I was priviledged to hold Hannah in my arms and she is so tiny, but they are home, healthy, and loved so much! Thanks be to God for His miracles!

Leaving a Legacy

"Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come." Prov 31:25

As many of you know my mother is very ill! She needs a miracle from God to pull through and survive. I believe God can pull through a miracle for her and I'm praying that very thing. I thank the many who are praying for her too!

This was moms best day so far in the hospital. We had just finished washing her hair and curling it. She looks the best here that she had for days and we hid all the tubes going in and coming out. She looks amazing for all that she is going through!

She is a woman of integrity, love, mystery, humor, strength, and much more. Mostly though she is a woman who leaves a legacy to my brother and I and her grandchildren. She taught us so much just by the way she lived. My brother and I recently were able to sit and visit about her and a lot of our memories. Memories of her brought joy to our hearts and reminded us of such a wonderful mom that she still is, even though she is very ill. She still prays for us and carries us in her heart all the time. She loves the Lord with all her strength and knows the Lord is with her even in the midst of this trial!

I can only hope and pray that at the end of my life, my children, friends, and family will look back and know I left a legacy like my mom has! Thank you mom for being my mom, my friend, my confidante, my teacher, my prayer warrior, and a lot of my inspiration! You are an amazing woman of God and I am so honored to be your daughter! I love you!

VICTORY!

To God be the glory great things He has done! I have recently been studying and teaching about Believing God. God has a true habit of making sure you are taught what you are teaching. I've been teaching about Believing God is who He says He is, God can do what He says He can do, I am Who God says I am, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and His Word is alive and active in me (Beth Moore study). Believing God over what we see and feel. However here lately with a lot going on around me I've been feeling pretty discouraged, pretty defeated, and haven't seen God's hand here lately around me. So Thursday I asked God to show me victory and help me Believe Him over what I see and feel.



As always God listens to our hearts and He showed me victory where I hadn't had seen it. I was focusing so much on what I could see the the giants that surrounded me. He showed me victory in my children, my mom, my church, and my friends. So next time you are surrounded by the giants, ask God to show you His victory! He will! Start believing Him for it.



Oh, victory in Jesus, my Savior forever, He sought me and He bought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him, He plunged me to Victory, beneath the cleansing flood!

To God, I give thanks!

We have finished a successful 9 weeks as of last friday! They've all received their report cards and they all did great, mostly A's and few B's. I am so proud of the hardwork they are doing to accomplish their education goals for this year. We took a few days off from school for a fall break! We have a few friends over yesterday and had such a joyous time visiting. As I was visiting with some friends I realized how much I have to be thankful for. Although I know it is not Thanksgiving just yet, don't we all say how much we need to say thanks to God everyday! Well I am thankful for my husband who is an amazing husband, father, and pastor. I can't imagine why that man chose me but I'm so glad he did. I am thankful for my children. They are such a joy and I hear great comments on them all the time. My neighbor down the street asked me how come my kids were so obedient (he is not around them all the time is he?) and asked if I bribed them with ice cream or something. He and his wife had observed that everytime Mike and I had asked them or told them to do something they immediately did that! I never noticed that, but I am thankful they are learning obedience and letting Jesus shine through them (If you love me you will obey me. 1John 5:2). I am thankful for so many things that God has blessed me with, given me, and even thankful for the hard times that are affecting our lives right now. So to God I give thanks! For He is good and His mercy is forever!

Last but certainly not least, Isabella at Coop!

Isabella loves coop! In fact she keeps asking if we can have it everyday. She was disappointed after the first day of coop and woke up the next day expecting to go and came to inquire what time do we need to leave, and I told her that it was just once a week. I'm glad she enjoys it. She goes to learning games first, and then onto US History where they talked alot about what the pioneers did and used for tools and everyday household items way back then. In the picture she is writing with a feather (which she remembered from science because we are learning about birds that the end point is called a quill (YEAH, she remembered!)) and berry juice mixed with vinegar and water. After her adventure there and it is an adventure for her she goes onto Critical Thinking through science. She is learning a lot of what Zech is learning but it is scaled down to her level. Her favorite time though is lunch where she truly goes around and just talks to all the people!

Zech at Coop day!

On Monday Zech attends sign language with Sarah and I first. Then onto Critical Thinking through science. They have explored density, sorting in groups, work and force, states of matter, and air & air pressure. Can you guess what he is studying in his picture? Then he is off to learning games. Learning games are logical games that make you think while your having fun! He does a great job! After lunch Zech works on Math, English, and spelling while waiting on Sarah to finish her classes.

Is it a hypothesis, a theory, or a law?

In order to help my oldest daughter learn about hypothesis, theories, and laws we've done a number of experiments and explanations. She was finally put to the test to see if some paragraphs written used the scientific method or not. What do you think?

"Johnny Appleseed was out reading under an apple tree one evening when all of a sudden an apple dropped on his head. After several minutes more apples were dropping. He thought to himself that maybe all things fall down and not up. He started to drop things and make things fall all over his farm and community to prove his thoughts. After many months he theorized that all things do fall down and not up. Several years passed and Fred Flinstone was reading the morning "Rock Paper" and noticed the article regarding Johnny Appleseeds findings many years ago. He decided to test Mr. Appleseeds theory since he was always picking things up or making things fall. Fred went to work many mornings at the Rock Quarry and picked many things up or knocking many things down. Sure enough Fred discovered that this theory was indeed true. He decided to share his thoughts and experiments at the local "Donut Rock Bakery" where many cartoonist gathered for their morning breakfast. After many other cartoonist like Larry Boy, Super Mario, Papa Smurf, and Dora the Explorer heard Fred's thought, they all decided to test this theory themselves at their jobs and homes. Many months went by and finally they all gathered together and put together a law that states: All things that drop or falls must go down, not up!

What we actually do at Coop!

Coop is an event we go to once a week, every Monday. About thirty moms and their children, which are many, come together at a church in town to teach one another about different subjects. I teach sign language 1 and 2. Other moms are teaching subjects like biology, literature, high school writing, general science, critical thinking through science, cooking (this is a yummy class), art, crafts, learning games, and many more. We are there from 9-3 taking an array of subjects. Sarah, my oldest, takes sign language, cooking, general science, art, and God's Gurlz. She absolutely loves going to Coop! It's Saturday morning around here and all of us are waking up soooo sleepy. You see in our household we have a tweenager (yes I spelled that correctly!) who has stepped on up into the youth group. But I have to back up the story here a little. Mike and I are early risers and that means we go to bed early. We are also very scheduled people and like things planned out weeks in advance in order to put in on our schedule. Now I'll skip back to my tweenager, since August she has been included in all youth events homeschooling or church. But the thing about youth is they are never early and they rarely plan events other than two or three hours before the event is happening. Most of you reading this post will have realized that the youth and our world are clashing. However, I have a youth who wants to do these events and so I don't crush her spirit everytime she gets to go to the planned and some unplanned activities. Last night was one of the planned activities, "The Fifth Quarter". We planned to let her go, but Mike and I usually razz each other for who is going to take her and pick her up or like last night somebody brought her home, who was going to stay up. The conversation looks a little like "well if I cook brownies tonight, will you take her?" or "Well if I help you with dinner though, you can take her." or "It's your day off sweetie and you got to sleep in late, your much more rested and can take her." or "If you take her, I'll do this or that." Then the conversation continues with, "whoever stays up gets to take a long nap!" or "Whoever goes to get her from the party gets their own freetime or whatever, a leisurely golfing afternoon." or "She's your daughter, you should want to go get her!" or "No you gave her to me, so you should go pick her up." ETC, ETC, ETC. This conversation usually last all day and usually ends up the opposite way of what we proposed. So the whole point to this story is that we as parents are getting toooooo old to stay up late and unfortunately our kids are getting older and staying up later! What's a family to do? Pray! Pray that one of these late night events myself or my husband won't be too sleepy and just fall asleep and forget our children, or fall asleep coming to get them.

Well I have one very early budding artist! Sarah has started taking Art at Enrichment classes and is enjoying every minute. This particular picture was done completely freehand using the grid method. She would look at the picture and the grid and copy that freehand onto her paper. Now I know I'm her mother but I'm downright proud of her accomplishments! She has some beautiful pictures now! Hope you enjoy!

Good Friday Morning - Here at our hub we have already finished character sketches, history, and a little math before heading to homeschool PE. We have PE every friday with about 20 other families. Zech and Isabella are in the younger group and Sarah is in the teen group. Can you tell what sport they are learning this month? Every month it changes sports or games or even weight lifting or gymnastics or some good old fashion calisthenics!

Sarah had her first Volleyball game and they won both times. I'm still clueless when it comes to volleyball, but I'm learning fast. She is on the lower bracket team (meaning mostly newbies!) and it is a homeschool league. We have a little over 60 children who participate in it with 8 teams! We have fun!

Homeschooling my three children can prove to be a challenge always. I'm constantly pressed by time to get it done and by people to get it done correctly. Homeschooling though isn't really any different than any other schooling. They get into fights, they learn bad habits from one another, they get annoyed with each other and want their own space, they fail sometimes at their first attempts, their second attempts, and sometimes even third. They have a teacher that isn't perfect and yells sometimes, gets frustrated sometimes, and even wants to throw it all out the window and send them on to some other teacher. During those tough times, God keeps me going, He sees us through every assignment, every long hour (and two or three at just one subject), He strengthens my fingers (sometimes when it needs to be pointed at them), strengthens my hands (for attitude adjustments), and strengthens my words (trying not to yell or show them I'm frustrated). God also keeps my children going too, to say their sorry when needed, even when they grit through their teeth and say "I'm sorry!". He gently reminds them of their wrongs and helps them to do what is right. I didn't always want to homeschool and I still daydream of a day when they are all away and I have time to myself, but I also realize then I would miss them so. So for now God has called us to homeschool and He equips us with our resources to do it excellently. I will never regret listening to Him for my answers for my family.

I've been thinking about this whole blog thing. The whole reason I've been wanting to do this is so that family and friends who live so far away can take a peek into our lives far away from where they live. I know I'm always asking my friends how are they doing on that or this and this is a good way of keeping them updated. I also know the grandparents and aunts and uncles would love to see what our lives looked from day to day. Now I'm not guarenteeing that I'll post everyday, but I'm sure going to try every week. So family and friends take a peek every week to see what is new in the Roberson household this week!

I had a friend of mine who inspired me to start my own blog. I've been wanting to do this so that I can brag on my three children who are a joy!
