Scorpion King strikes again!

A friend of mine recently had posted on her blog dealings with a scorpion and her son from thousands of miles away. Thankfully all was well and everything was back to normal. They said they saved the scorpion for her to see as a "surprise" when she returned from her mission trip. I think however word got out to the other scorpion's and their families because the scorpion struck at our house this morning!

Yes, as I was preparring for school early this morning I hear a scream, a cry, and in a loud voice, "A SCORPION" "WHERE?" "HE STUNG ME!" and I start to investigate the problem. It was indeed a scorpion and it did sting Sarah on the bottom of the foot because she stepped on it not knowing it was there. I felt sorry for her, but I have to preface this with, this is my very touch sensitve girl. Literally the slightest touch and she is wounded and it seems at times for life. However with a brave face, she hobbled into the school room and I checked it out and couldn't find anything. At first I thought maybe she hadn't been bit, just thinking she had. I had to also caution her (who is likely to panic) that if she experienced difficulty breathing in the next 15 minutes or so she needed to let me know. She looked at me with horror on her face. She did fine! It welped up a little but not much and tonight she is saying it is fine.

So mommy went in with a shoe and a knife and killed the scorpion! I don't like scorpions! I don't even like them when they are dead. However I had to be the brave one and kill the scorpion King and emerge a hero. Yeah for Supermom! It is dead and hopefully never to return but in order to ensure that, Mike got a call from me that we need to do something about these scorpions running inside our house. He agreed and so hopefully we will once again reign in our house and not the scorpions!

P.S. Laura by the way even when your in the same house you worry about your children!

Yes, but at least when you are in the same house with your children, you can at seeeeeeee that they are ok. You can touch them and hold them if you need to. Not so when you are over 2000 miles away. I think it was a cry to all scorpions that it was attack time. Sorry my scorpion started it.

EEK! We've had scorpions in our garage, but (knock on wood) never in the house. Now that I've read this post, I suppose it's my turn. I just wanted to offer a little tidbit that my parents learned the hard way - apparently you're not supposed to kill scorpions by smashing them. They carry their babies on their backs and they can be small enough that you don't see them. When mommy is smashed, the babies all scramble to go grow up inside your house. Lovely. So, next time spray him with some wasp spray or something! Just FYI. :)
